High fiscal subsidy

Enterprises only need to pay a small part of the booth rates, and this subsidy does not conflict with the application of small and medium enterprises to apply for international market development funds.

Market advantages

As a member of ASEAN, China applies the preferential tax rate of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area to its exports. Myanmar enjoys zero-tariff treatment of GSP beneficiaries for the export of textiles from the European Union and Japan. In addition, textiles and clothing are the main commodities of Chinese exports to Myanmar. In 2017, Chinese exports of textiles and clothing to ASEAN reached 34.749 billion USD, an increase of 4.51 % year-on-year, of which, exports to Myanmar reached 1.57 billion USD, accounting for 4.5 % of total exports to ASEAN textiles and clothing, a year-on-year increase of 26.65 %. China's textile and clothing exports to Myanmar have increased by 44.5 % in the past five years, and there is still plenty room for growth.

As one of the Belt and Road countries, Myanmar's textile industry has a huge supply and demand gap due to the immature domestic production. It is also an opportunity for China to cooperate with foreign trade in textile machinery, textile raw materials and fabrics. Since reopening-up of Myanmar in 2012 after the political reform, Myanmar has a considerable benefit from the Belt and Road. Especially since the European Union and the United States have lifted sanctions against Myanmar in recent years, Myanmar is now regarded as a new destination for garment and textile enterprises because of its strategic location. It is also one of the first choices for Chinese enterprises to "go global" and invest in building factories abroad.
